Issue #15 is Out Now Featuring Voices of Incarceration
This year, our special section is dedicated to Voices of Incarceration. The issue highlights the work of both writers and visual artists, including Dee Vogt, Dan Grote, Abigail Cook, Douglas Halloran, and Keshawn Taylor, among many others. We are also proud to present two original 10-minute plays by Derek R. Trumbo Sr. and Madddilyn Marcum. Among the many contributors to our general section are Britney Lutge, Rachel Peddersen, Zebulon Huset, and Rick Andrews.
Our Editor-in-Chief, Jay Adams, offered the following reflection on this year’s special section:

“In the times we live in, prisons are increasingly politicized; numerous labor industries are reorganizing themselves around the labor of incarcerated individuals, and incarcerated firefighters took center stage in fighting the recent west coast wildfires. Societally, we seem to value the labor of incarcerated individuals, but not their minds. In helping our Special Editor, Keeonna Harris, and our Alumni Editor, Eric W. Willis, put together our special section, I found myself returning to this era of my life, and thinking of the people I met and the voices that might not ever get heard.
I wish I could express the amount of care that has gone into this and every other issue of Jelly Bucket, or how excited I am for this thing of ours to go out into the world. Instead, I will just close this letter with a suggestion: approach each word earnestly and openly.”
